A collective challenge, the need to act for sustainable health

Chronic diseases, particularly obesity, represent a major challenge for public health and society as a whole. Their growing prevalence puts considerable pressure on healthcare systems and impacts on people’s quality of life.

Faced with these complex challenges, a collective response involving several players is needed to develop sustainable and effective solutions. Inspired by the Danish partnership Lighthouse Life Science | Healthy Weight, Pro-Santé emphasizes the importance of a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, bringing together players from diverse backgrounds, including partners who don’t necessarily work together on health issues. This diversity of perspectives and expertise fosters the emergence of innovative initiatives tailored to the realities on the ground.

Pro-Santé is positioned as a catalyst for innovation in sustainable healthcare, combining the strengths of the public, private and community sectors to promote prevention, early diagnosis and improved care. By encouraging new ways of collaborating and supporting concrete projects, Pro-Santé is helping to build a future where sustainable health is a priority accessible to all.

Creating solutions together

Pro-Santé’s mission is to stimulate innovation in sustainable healthcare by supporting collaborative approaches and funding high-impact initiatives. Its first focus is on obesity, a major public health issue requiring innovative, multidisciplinary solutions.

To achieve this, Pro-Santé relies on three essential levers: identifying promising solutions, supporting projects with a tangible impact, and mobilizing players from various sectors. By acting as a catalyst, Pro-Santé encourages the emergence of bold ideas and the implementation of concrete initiatives.

By shedding light on new approaches to sustainable health, Pro-Santé acts as a beacon, guiding collective efforts towards sustainable solutions that will benefit both individuals and society as a whole.

Financing initiatives that contribute to sustainable health

Pro-Santé funds initiatives that contribute directly to sustainable health by promoting innovative and collaborative approaches. Through calls for projects and innovation challenges, the organization encourages the emergence of solutions adapted to current public health issues.

Its principles and values are based on :

  • Societal and multi-sectoral approach: Pro-Santé fosters collaboration between various sectors and disciplines to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to public health challenges.
  • Rigorous project evaluation model involving a variety of expertise at different levels (micro, meso and macro).
  • Diversity of stakeholders and integration of new players: We encourage the participation of a wide range of players, including those not traditionally involved in health issues, in order to foster innovation and the emergence of new solutions.
  • Support for evidence-based and innovative approaches: Pro-Santé supports both evidence-based initiatives and those exploring new approaches, integrating the private sector, institutional and community sectors.
  • Public-private funding model: Funding for the initiative comes from both the Quebec government and Novo Nordisk Canada, to support their projects and their sustainability.

Pro-Santé makes it a point of honour to support projects with concrete, measurable and sustainable results, thereby contributing to real change for the health of populations and the sustainability of healthcare systems.

An alliance for innovation in healthcare

The Pro-Santé initiative is supported by several key institutions in Quebec:

  • Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQ)
  • Novo Nordisk Canada
  • Montréal InVivo

These partners also benefit from the support of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie, who are backing this strategic sustainable health initiative. Together, they are working to mobilize various stakeholders and develop innovative solutions to reduce the burden of chronic diseases, starting with obesity.
